Small stories of how it all went along

Archive for the month “July, 2016”

I would want Kenzo and Liam to learn the importance of money, someday. Though being materialistic is being frowned upon by the church and some hypocritical individuals but really it is very, very important. I believe money does makes the world go round, and  it is not love that do. I am all for accumulating wealth but thru LEGAL MEANS only and  no other way.

I wish Kenzo and Liam to push harder in life to be financial independent because in the end that is all that matters. Even almost all ( about 90%) of life’s problems can be solved by being liquid with cash and having no money is mostly the main cause of it.

I wished that they wont listen to how loving money is portrayed as evil, greedy and being poor (but the one  with a golden heart) is the inspiration.

Wealth thru legal means, accumulated by being fair and earned by hard work is a goal hopefully they’ll take on.

Lately, or the past few months, I noticed mum is at her menopause phase or maybe it is stress from what happened to momsie,  I don’t know but my wild guess it is menopausal.

Usually the house is mixed with occasional rough and scary tumble by the kids, a few mess here and there, a scratch, a loud wail. but when mum is here very seldom do we get peace. A simple chore will have some loud complaints with it, a missing bottle of lotion will be like missing a box of diamonds, an under-cooked cabbage, chicken etc can be like she was served a poison.

But that is not all, she complained of humidity even the weather is relatively cool. Even when the AC is on (though at about 25 degrees) she will complain as if she is being baked in an oven.

Truth is, there are no checklist on how to deal with menopausal women. It is just to be patient and kill yourself if you run out of it. Right now, I find all to be funny but in a few weeks it wont be that funny anymore.

Life is a bit on the tougher side now and it looks like it is about to go worst, good thing I still can laugh all the hate out plus I have a small room I can escape to when things got too loud… so far so good, at least.

School ‘baon’ Li and Ken

I have a plan which is not (just like most of my plans) ordinarily done by other parents. I believe it would serve Liam and Kenzo if  their school allowances ( baon) is based on their grades. If you have low grades you will get lower allowance and high grades will get you more.

I know that this plan will best suit them when the time comes to face the real world, where lazy people are not compensated for loitering and daydreaming is not a career. I think it is also an incentive for them to achieve, rather than give them the equal school allowance and  perks whether  they do or not do their school work.

Some will criticize this for setting the plan on material things, but is it not the adult world, which eventually they have to face, works on the same materialistic principles? Is it not  those who label others as materialistic are the ones who are also as greedy as the people they label as such? But anyway that’ll be for another blog post.

Going back, like in real life those who work harder will get more is how the world turns and my plan sit on that thought. I think this plan will serve its purpose not to give incentives ( aka free lunch ) to laziness and it will teach them the value of working harder for stuff they want.

Bad example

Mum and I had a strongly worded Viber messages sent to each other. It was nothing out of the ordinary, hate and fights do happen. But what stood out was maybe what ended the conversation.

It mainly focuses on how I criticize mum for not being active in checking Kenzo’s school works. In fact, she dont. She is unaware what Kenzo can do at school. his progress, what he knows etc.. She is updated on her TV series but not on Kenzo’s work.   I felt that it is the parents job (me and mum) to make our kids learn and start the habit of learning. I knew kids will not choose reading a book to riding a bike or playing outside. And if a kid got low grades it is not the kids fault but mostly it is the parents for being lazy to teach.

Currently, I supervised all of Kenzo’s school work but I also need mum to contribute a bit, not much, but just a little of her time to be updated and just make Kenzo feel that his work is important to us.

I said that she was setting a bad example for ignoring Kenzo’s school work. I think it will tell Kenzo that school is secondary and not that important. Now her come back was I am a bad example too for staying at home.

I knew that I am not a good example to kids that I am a stay at home dad. though I got rent income and a freelancer at Pru Life Uk, I knew very well and even worried that this lifestlye is not something kids should aim at when they grow old. I knew it is bad and I have a plan to skip around in and that would be likely in about 5 years.

I dont want them to grow up and see that their dad is at home and just waiting for his rent income every month, that I dont have a career like other dads. Really, I dont want them to see that. So in 5-8years I have a golden plan. When Kenzo is about 13 and Liam 9, I got to move out rather than be a bad example to my kids. Obviuosly, I cannot carved a career from scratch now, it is too late.  So I got all planned and I knew  what 5-8 years will look like.

This week-House & Car

4 July

After years of house hunting we are around the last bend, the final stretch. We are probably going to dive in and get property that we can live with.

It is just a few days more and we will finally have a property that we bought using our funds (our other properties are inherited). There is a tinge of fear, excitement and daydreaming as the day gets nearer.

The whole house hunting trip was really a nightmare for us because we have two different opposing views of what house to buy. I prefer to buy small, affordable ones ( and use other funds to build apartments for retirement) while mum wants a grand one, with all the cabinets, spaces etc.Having two different views made purchasing a house hard but goodthing was we found two small lots for sale in BF Pilar, one to build a house on and one to be made as a lawn, kept as an investment and sold in the future or turned into an apartments for retirement.

8 July

For the last couple of days, we have been talking to Architects and Contractors to plan our house. We have given them our requirements and budget and they’ll just have to come up with a plan. We will submit that to the bank for processing and hopefully in a month we are all up and ready.

For the last week or so, we have been also in contact with the brokers and there was a lot of Text exchanges, clarifications and confusions too. In normal situation, I would be impatient with the whole process, I find the seller too pushy on what she wants, and talking to 2 brokers makes all confusing and weird. But as of yesterday, all was cleared and probably tuesday next week we will get our first Lot that we got from our own money.

The other thing that is going to be exciting this weekend is the car that mum will be buy from her cousin (Tito) Dr. Jan. I normally would be against it but she made the arrangement without telling me. But when I was told of the price (which is way too cheap) I half-heartedly agreed.
