CRYIN’

To a baby or toddler, crying can have a truckload of possible meaning.

-I am hungry
-I am sad
-I am angry
-I am mad
-My diapers are filled with poo
-I want milk
-I don’t like milk
-I am afraid
-I want to watch SpongeBob
-I hate SpongeBob
-I want to play with a knife
-Pee dripping on my legs
-I just peed on your BlackBerry
and others…

It is their way of speaking to us. Sometimes the message is obvious but sometimes it isn’t. You need to decipher what they are telling us, the same way you try to understand someone speaking a foreign language. It is tricky but it can be fun once you get that hang of it.
